My story and the mission it's shaped
I've spent more than 30 years with Chick-fil-A, and it all started back in high school. For much of that time, I worked hard to look like the perfect leader: respected, admired, and together. What I couldn't see was the cost. I was missing moments I can never get back, and carrying wounds I hadn't faced.
Then came a dark season, and someone who loved me enough to challenge my hiding. That was the beginning of a journey of grace and healing.
What I've learned about leadership: Great leadership isn't about having all the answers or never showing a crack. It's about being real enough that the people around you feel safe to be real too. When I stopped performing and started listening, really listening, my team began to trust me more, and I began to lead better. People don't follow perfection. They follow someone who sees them, values them, and tells them the truth with care.
Honest leadership, and true freedom, begin with honesty.
Family is my anchor. Marcia, my wife of 28 years, and I have four sons, and they keep me grounded in what matters most.
My hope is that everyone I meet walks away knowing they're valued, seen, and genuinely cared for. You matter, and it has nothing to do with your title, your output, or how perfect you seem.
